Operation W: Marietta Amateur Ultimate Frisbee Posted October 30, 2005 at 11:40 AM EST |
I recently added to the sidebar some links to my recent new hobby, ever since last summer I've been really into playing ultimate frisbee. Me and some friends have started a group called Operation W, and if you're in the area of Marietta, GA, you should come play!
We send out emails every week through our google group. You can join up there as well as read our emails from past weeks. We have a bunch of pictures up on flickr, and you can find those through the sidebar 'flickr badge' or the link under it. We have videos too, and im working on the page for them =)

yay for open source! Posted March 6, 2004 at 2:29 PM EST |
As of the 0.8 release, I've been using Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. It's an excellent piece of open source technology, and with tabbed browsing, a customisible search box, and many more features, it's an extremely powerful tool and I'm glad I made the switch.
My successes with Firefox led me to try out Mozilla's mail client, Mozilla Thunderbird. It's nice checking my mail knowing that no matter what I do, I'm not going to be infected. This is more me looking forward to putting it on the other computers in my house, heh. It's also got an integrated spam blocking feature, which is very useful. Now all I need is to start getting mail that isnt spam.
I was editing linkynet yesterday (notice a difference?) and needed an FTP client, so I turned to sourceforge.net and found a program called FileZilla, and it turns out to be really good, fast, and useful. I like it even more than FlashFXP, which is what I used on my desktop.
Then today, I started using XChat instead of Xircon, my former IRC client. Xircon hasn't been devoloped in years, and XChat has features I need like autoconnecting to multiple networks on startup.
I think I'll wait until Gaim is at their 1.0 release to switch to that... Logging, reliable direct connecting, and other features that are a must.
Anyways, just a quick update. I'm enjoying using all this new software, and I'm replacing programs I've used for years. It seemed like a good reason to update at the time =)

we're gettin there Posted March 6, 2004 at 12:48 AM EST |
I'm working on improving the look of the news posts... it's closer to how I imagined it, but it's far from there. Most of it is knowing what to tweak in coranto... I'm on spring break, so I've got all the time in the world to make linkynet look perfect =)
